So handy to have a good circular saw that is ready for use straight off the shelf. Two blades for cutting different materials make it even more useful.

Although this saw had some good reviews there were some bad reviews, particularly about a lack of torque. All I can say is those that gave it bad reviews were either unlucky or didn’t take the time to set it up correctly. For the price this saw, just like the Hychika cordless drill I have, is nothing short of excellent.I’ve been using it for the past couple of days to fit a bespoke kitchen. Between us we have this saw and a DeWalt cordless circular saw. Now I’m not going to say this is as good as the DeWalt, but it’s pretty close. With the 40T blade in it cuts through 18mm hardwood like butter with a cut no different to the DeWalt. With the blade set at 45° I was able to cut perfect French cleats with ease, again as good as the DeWalt. The angle guage on this is surprisingly accurate and easy to set.Battery life is excellent if you fully charge the battery before first use. Its probably less than the DeWalt but I’ve been using it for 2 days and haven’t needed to swap the battery over yet.The charger is straight forward to use but I can’t comment on how long it will take to fully charge a 4ah battery from drained as I haven’t needed to yet.The most significant differences between this and the DeWalt are weight and the materials it’s made out of.The Hychika is a fair bit lighter than the DeWalt and whilst it feels sturdy enough its not got the same feel to it as the DeWalt. Then again it hasn’t got the price tag of a DeWalt.Would it stand up to the rigours of constant trade use? Probably not, but as a DIY tool I honestly don’t think you’d find better in its price bracket.Update: so it’s been used every day now for the last week on a bespoke kitchen build; and the verdict?Ridiculously good for the price!4×2 timber? no problem, battery life? I’ve changed the battery once! This thing just goes on and on and cuts anything you can throw at it within reason.Top tip, like any circular saw it will bind on long cuts if you don’t keep the plate at 90° to the surface you’re cutting.Hychika is rapidly becoming my favourite non-premium power tool brand

When I made my order I had to read the reviews and made my choice to give this a go. When this come I set it up and put it on charge. It charged really fast and when using it for the first time I thought this is not that fast and would not cut a solid door. How could I have been so wrong it cut a solid door with ease. Like cutting butter with a hot knife. No problem at all. You would not think some thing so cheap and light would do a great job. It was easy to set up and so easy to use. I for one am 100% happy with this and have used it almost 3 times a month and still works just as good as day one. I give it 10 /10

I was looking for a circular saw to further reduce a kitchen worktop offcut for use as a desktop. The choice for budget saws was bewildering but this one had decent reviews. Importantly, it comes with a 40 tooth blade; something I’d read was important for a smooth finish on wood. The piece I was cutting was solid walnut, 4cm thick. The laser guide on the saw was very helpful in aligning my fence ( a clamped straight edge) to keep the saw straight, and I had enough wiggle room in the size to make a test cut. I was amazed how easy it was, and very impressed with the smoothness of the cut. After repositioning the fence to make the final cut, the second pass was equally effortless and the finish was so smooth it barely needed any sanding. The saw seems well made, it was easy to change the blade, the mains lead was usefully long, and the laser guide came in handy.I look forward to using it on future projects.
