So to compare this I put it up against my old faithful Bosch combi drill, that has seen me well for a number of years and has been put through some abuse.First impressions were that this was a bit more top heavy than I’m used to, I can imagine that over time it might get a bit heavy in the hand if you are working at heights.Part of the weight comes from the fully metal chuck, there is no plastic grip it. The exterior of the chuck is knurled metal, it is strong and stable and will easily stand up over the years. It comes with a 2.5ah battery and charger, the battery comes discharged and was relatively fast in charging up.The plus side with these batteries is that they can be used in the other tools offered by Worx.Fitting drill bits is easy, place in the end and hand lock, no tools required! On top you find the gearbox to change the speed and around the front there is a dial to select drill or the torque setting for the drill driver.I put it head to head against the trusty Bosch in a couple of tests, the first was to simply drive in a screw to a piece of 3×2 I had knocking about – the Worx did this with no issue and no jumping out of the screw. The torque selector worked well.Next up was a quick drill test through the same wood using an 8mm drill bit.The Worx went straight through in a record time compared to my Bosch! No struggling at all.At this point I thought I’d put it to a bigger challenge, I got a 32mm spade bit on the end and my Bosch as usual got through but took its time. The Worx flew through! There was no stalling, no hesitating it went through in a record time compared to my Bosch – I have to admit I was a bit shocked. This drill driver is powerful even considered it’s small battery, if you need a tool that will help you with your projects this is certainly up to the task. I’ve not looked much into the Worx range, but if they are all as good as this I’d be happy to switch over to a new cordless range.

I ordered this Worx Drill to replace my Bosch drill which whilst it was great when I first bought it I found it really struggled with drilling hard materials. In contrast, this drill provides a lot more power and didn’t have any issues drilling into brick or metal. The build quality feels great and it does have a bit more weight to it compared to my old drill. This allowed me to put my body weight behind it when drilling holes but I can imagine it would start to feel heavy if you were using it for long periods of time. The carry case is good and fits the drill alongside a battery charger and a 2.5Ah battery. I already have another Worx tool so it’s great that the batteries are interchangeable. I was able to get through most of the day on a single charge of the battery, it’s also a great help that the battery charger charges very quickly.Overall I am very happy with this drill, it’s a definite upgrade to my Bosch and the build quality seems equal to the likes of my other Makita tools.

When I was offered the chance to use and review this 18v Worx drill I had just purchased a Milwaukee 18v drill around a week before so I thought it would be great to side by side test them. The battery’s are not quite the same size but it’s close.I have to say the worx feels a little heavy compared to the Milwaukee even though you can see it’s lighter. I think it’s the fact it feels a little too heavy. It’s still a great drill and screwed over a 100 long screws into a large table I made from 4×4 posts with. I problems at all.Due to the fact I have just purchased a drill my partner is very much the diy person around the house and I have given her the drill to use moving forward she has a makita set and instantly preferred the Worx over her drill so she is very happy. Battery life is also better than the makita drill.Overall we are both very pleased with this drill and would consider it a drill to match the top leaders.I hope this review has helped you with your purchase

Amazing power for a battery lightweight drill. In use constantly. Concrete walls to small screws. Brilliant. A must have for DIY. Just a shame it didnt come with extra drill bits for the price it costs
