What kind of liquids can be sprayed?

All low-viscosity solvent-based and water-based materials, such as enamels and varnishes, protective wood-staining products, primers and oils

Do I need to dilute th epaint when spraying with a HVLP paint sprayer?

Highly viscous materials, however, should be diluted in 10% increments. Use water for water-based materials and solvents for solvent-based materials. This will ensure that every paint application is a success.

How do I prepare the working area correctly when spraying with interior wall paint?

Cover all surfaces and objects that are not to be sprayed or remove them from the working area.

What are the advantages of spraying compared to application by brush and roll?

– Uniform paint application, smooth, more resistant surface

– High covering capacity

– Easy coverage of corners and edges

– Hard-to-reach areas

– Textured surfaces

Are there any tips and tricks for achieving a perfect spray finish?

We recommend spraying in a vertical spray direction. Move the device at a constant distance of 10-30 cm and at a constant speed. Make sure that the spray overlaps the previous spray slightly in order to achieve a uniform paint coverage.

We bought this as we had an entire house to paint. We put standard paint through it, once we got the viscosity right it made quick work of a wall. If you are looking for a sprayer for some light work then I’d recommend this one.Is it quicker than a roller? Depends, when painting the next day you can leave the roller in a plastic bag. This needs to be fully cleaned after each use. Factor in that time, along with getting the paint mixed, might even that out.Another difference to a roller is the texture. The spray will essentially have no texture and should be smooth. A roller leaves some minor textures, depending on the material is made up from.

This was cheap enough to buy insted of an unknown brand.Baought this to spray paint my out house, worked very well!

Why do people paint fences?? I love this tool. It’s so easy and nice even coverage. No mess, so speedy, light to hold and even sprayed the pebbledash on the garage. Took the neighbour ages to paint his! I sprayed mine in 10 minutes!!Definitely invest!!

It was a little over four months after my Wagner Wood & Metal Paint Sprayer arrived, when the Lancashire wind finally abated sufficiently to allow me to tackle the application of two coats of waterborne exterior wood paint to 21 metres or so of recently installed rough-sawn fencing, six feet high.I’ve not used a paint sprayer before and my apprehension on a couple of issues proved to be unfounded. Using quite a viscous product, I was anticipating problems with nozzle clogging during the course of application, but there were no such issues – perhaps because once I started, I kept going without a break. My other concern was that I might not have purchased sufficient paint to complete the task – I’d ordered 25 litres. In the end, I used less than 10 litres – so I’ve plenty left to do the other side of the fence (if only I could get to it through all the shrubs!)The first pass took me four hours or so, working non-stop – and I’ll admit I was pretty tired when I’d finished. The second coat, applied the next day, was much simpler and took an hour less. The whole process took only two mornings, which I know from experience is about a fifth the time it would have taken me to apply the product by brush. The Wagner sprayer was simple to use and, with only a little trial and error, I soon got the hang of how to get consistent results. I was surprised at how much area I could cover before needing to refill the reservoir – having said that, when tackling a fence, it is something that needs to be done many times during the course of application and can be a tad messy. I’d armed myself with a large plastic jug to help decant material from the 5 litre packs into the 0.8 litre sprayer reservoir. I found it’s also a good idea to house all materials, including water for easing and a bucket and sponge for cleaning, in a stout cardboard tray.Perhaps partly because I’d patiently waited for such a calm couple of days, I was pleasantly surprised at how little overspray there was – although I did find it worth protecting the grass at the base of the fence, where I was having to angle the sprayer sharply downwards.I have just two small criticisms: Firstly, the power cable could do with being just a little longer; when attached to an extension lead, you can find the connector getting underfoot as you work. Secondly, the paint reservoir, being fairly opaque, makes it nigh on impossible to see the amount of paint remaining in it. In my case, I learned that it need refilling as soon as the gun started to “spit”.Overall (and clean-up aside) I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working with the Wagner Wood & Metal Paint Sprayer and that I’m looking forward to using it again on other tasks.

I have used this for spraying a garden fence with fence guard and it did a great job. Very easy to use and clean and gives a good even coverage. The only downside is the small capacity reservoir which needs filling often. I bought a spare one so that I could have a full one ready when the one I was using ran out but even so it is still a bit of a chore to keep refilling. Overall though a really good sprayer which feels well made and will hopefully stand the test of time.

Very happy with the service and the price

  7. Daryn Smith

Once you forget all you learned air spraying….the little wheel which adjusts the pressure is crucial, fiddle with it until the spray is even.

  8. Mrs Bonny Riby-Williams

Originally bought to upcycle an old piece of old furniture which turned out great. Been sitting in the shed for months.Had my garden redone and all fences replaced just before the lockdown. The contractor quoted me £500 to paint all fence panels which I thought was steep so left them.Decided to paint them myself this week and it took me an hour to hand paint one coat on one fence panel and it looked like it would need at least two more coats. I have 23 panels to paint! ( now understand why I was quoted £500)! Life is too short to spend days painting fences. Then remembered I had this sprayer. Spent an hour covering all the areas I didn’t want to get paint on with plastic dust sheets (boring)! Thinned out the paint in a bucket, loaded up the sprayer, put on some music on and away I went. Took less than 10 mins to do one panel and if you keep a steady flow, will only need one coat with the sprayer. Result! The paint does run out quickly but I found one pot will do one panel and then fill up, which is easy to do.Did about a dozen panels today and as it’s quite heavy to hold with full paint pot, the wrist got a bit tired. Will do the rest tomorrow.Cleaning the sprayer is a bit of a faff but if you wash the paint pot out separately, which I did in a bucket, and then fill it up with clean water and spry it out again in a bucket, just to clean out the tubes and nozzle, it’s much quicker. I do this outside in a bucket to prevent the sink in the house getting paint all over it.Must clean after each use.I must say it’s quite fun doing a chore which could have been mind numbing.

  9. Bramleyapple

Have you ever used one of those plastic pump action pressure sprayers to try and paint your fence panels and ended up with more paint on you/the sprayer/the floor/anything else. Well this sprayer is nothing like the ones you physically pump. This is brilliant. Just make sure you mask off any concrete posts and cover up concrete gravel boards. If using Ducksback water it down between 5 and 10%. Use on a calm day and away you go. You get panels done so much quicker than with a brush. It’s not even difficult to wash out after you’ve finished with it. Get one and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
