  1. Peter Messervy

This tool is well made and accurate and has a nice long stroke for cutting at any angle. My one concern is the difficulty getting answers from the Stanley organisation. I tied to get a spare blade and the only way it seems id from an EU company with a massive shipping cost that is totally unreasonable.

I am building a work bench and need to cut 90 mm x 40 mm pieces of timber at 90 and 45 degrees. I need some accuracy but not anything extreme. I felt that buying a 250 mm power mitre saw would be an overkill and a waste of money. I did not really knew what to expect but this is a great piece of kit and definitely more versatile than a power saw. It is mostly made of metal but the legs are plastic. Still, it feels very solid. It cuts timber quickly and accurately. I tried a 60mm x 40 mm and it cut it cleanly in i think about a minute. This is a great product, safer and more compact than a power saw.

I agree with ELAL’s review although I managed to cut less than 1mm to correct some previous cuts which had wandered off line owing to me not clamping the work. In fact I managed to cut less than the thickness of the blade. Don’t simply rely on the yellow plastic eccentric wedges to hold tall work. Very pleased with my second-hand purchase.

  4. Amazon Customer

Easy to use and cuts well. No need for electrical cables or blowing dust.

  5. Mr P R Lowe

Bought this saw for little framing jobs etc. I’m not a professional wood worker of any description but I love a bit of diy and other projects. I have found it quite capable and accurate enough for my needs. One thing I didn’t think about though was it needs to be secured to a bench or some such as it is very light. It has 4 fixing points so I just self tapper it to my wood bench when I need it so no biggy.

  6. Susan M.

. just cut a piece of wood 6 inches wide and it is spot on 90 degrees would highly recommend it

  7. ChrisP

Don’t need a more expensive one than this. Been using it for several months now, mainly to make box frames for large canvases. Once you work out your own DIY limitations you’ll find a way to use it for accurate cutting. Would say that it does need anchoring firmly onto a work bench or a table for real accuracy. I’m a DIY idiot and if I can use it then anyone can. If you buy your mouldings in bulk it can save a fortune, though you do need a band clamp and v nails to complete the job.

  8. Frenchie

I am using this only to cut mitre joints for my picture frames and have found it to be very accurate indeed just as long as you don’t rush the cut, letting the saw do the work and not your muscle! So far I have only used it to cut 45 degree cuts and find it to be fairly accurate just as long as I don’t rush the cut.Overall I am well pleased with my purchase

  9. Amazon Customer

Dose what it’s designed to do

  10. Geneng46

I browsed the comments on similar products before purchasing. I made the right choice as this product is sturdy and has given excellent results. The only future weakness might be in the plastic saw guides. One of these guides was found to be shattered on receipt, possibly due to the way Stanley had packed it. Amazon supplied a replacement product in two days. The guides do however run on sturdy metal dowels so no problems so far. I have only used this item for 12 x 12 mm timber for a model so cannot say how performs on larger timber.
