Jason dyer –
All good thank you
Brian Farrell –
Much better than cheaper saws I’ve used. Cuts much more accurately
Fraser –
i purchased this saw to replace the one i purchased in the 1980’s and have to this day. Excellent quality and expect this one to last me just as long. The wooden handle is slightly less comfortable than the modern plastic handles with rubber grips. There are numerous comments about the handle being small but i suspect this is because traditionally a tenon saw was held with a ‘pistol’ grip with the index finger pointing forward along the blade of the saw and only three fingers through the hole in the handle. If held in this way the handle is fine.
Richard B –
A very solid and stiff bladed tenon saw for precise cutting of tenons and other wood joints. I used it to make a garage door. I am very pleased with it.
Helen Marshall –
Cutting wood!
Sally –
Great value for money
Murdo Alasdair –
It is great price for a saw that can be resharpened. Great as well for me starting out in woodwork or also good for general DIY as it is between a carcas saw and dovetail saw so will cover a lot of jobs reasonably. it can also be resharpened/recut for differing tooth patterns (can buy a few and repattern ones to suit your needs instead of paying hundreds on specific saws. Will also just do average DIY so great saw for the person who just does a little but need a small saw for a variety of jobs.

I bought this on the back of other reviews. What struck me a lot was that others were mentioning how wonderful the grip was in their hands and how much room there was for someone with bigger hands. My hands are small and there’s not that much space. That is my only caution for others about this saw. It’s wonderfully sharp, might need some setting up depending on your needs. This is the first “Proper” new saw I’ve owned and I don’t regret the money spent. Nice weight and balance, easy to get back on track if you wander from your line Even on a cheap laminated door it made a nice cut with little tearing and chipping of the material.Absolute pleasure to use – though I might fit a slightly larger handle.

I’ve bought his to replace an old, 10 inch, steel backed tenon saw I have had for nearly 50 years, and which has given a lifetime of faithful service. The new one arrived today and looks and feels superb. The handle is big enough for me to hold the saw easly, whilst having ample room for someone with larger hands to use it. The blade and teeth are straight and well set, and the brass back adds enough weight to allow it to cut without having to put on anymore pressure, enabling straight, fine cutting. The extra length, and 15 points per inch, also enables less effort to be used. As you would expect from a Spear and Jackson tool of this nature, the finish is excellent, and with care will provide a lifetimes use. If you are considering buying a tenon saw, forget the cheap ones you get from the DIY stores and go for one of these, believe me, in the long run it is a purchase you will not regret.

I am in the USA and purchased this saw from Amazon UK because the price was a fraction of what it would be in the USA. Shipping was inexpensive and prompt. The saw cut fast and straight when I received it, but I reduced the set slightly to narrow the kerf and for my purposes this helps me better maintain a straight cut. The brass back is quite substantial and the weight seems just right to aid in cutting. The handle is tight and of a good size for my average size hand and well angled for me as I believe it would be for most people. The handle might be reshaped slightly for personal comfort. I plan to relieve the edges of mine slightly, but this is a matter of personal preference. I believe this saw is a very good tool as it comes, but I am also pleased that it allows one to fine tune it to meet one’s own needs or preferences. I am finding it very satisfying to use and an excellent value.
