Starry night –
These One+ secateurs are really good in use: better than expected. We were hoping that these would be useful for my Mum, who has arthritis in her hands, and make gardening easier for her when used with one of the smaller, lighter batteries (a 1.3 or 2.0Ah), but actually these are really handy for any of us to use. These powered secateurs will cut comfortably through slim branches – the kind of stuff you couldn’t do with regular secateurs as well as everything you could – quickly and with no strain or effort. They’re a real time saver, to say nothing of eliminating hand strain. With one of the larger 5.0Ah batteries they end up a little on the heavy side (too heavy for Mum to manage, but fine for the rest of us), but will run for ages. The one small negative we’ve found to these is the rapid engagement of the automatic lock safety feature. This activates after just four seconds of disuse – which is quite easy to get through just whilst moving a few snipped pieces – and requires a press and hold on a button on the side to unlock them again. It’s not a big deal, but a little disruptive when you’re mid-task.

Excellent product my wife loves it.

I was really looking for something like this. I did a lot of reading on them, and similar items, primarily to cut bamboo. More young bamboo, granted, less than an inch in diameter. It has a great hydraulic action, just cutting with the press of a button. I ended up clearing out a lot of bamboo and proceeded to do pruning on smaller trees with thick-ish limbs. It saved a lot of effort on my part. It does get a little heavy after an hour or so, but not too much and you can really use two hands, one just to support it. It saves a lot more effort than what’s used to hold it, so I can’t mark it down for that. It is balanced well.

These electric secateurs are brilliant, you never know when reviewing tools as all comments vary so muchI have Ryobi one plus tools so ordered the bare tool , it has good safety settings as well which is very important and something i had not thought about until using . They power off in a short time if not using so wont accidentally start cutting if you press the trigger , you have to be careful not to get fingers in the way if holding branches etc Impt … Have got a 2.5 amp battery now as well as my others were a lot bigger so as to reduce weight

Knowing my hands would be stiff with manual secateurs for the amount of cutting back to do, I decided to give these a go and have no regrets at all. I’m patient enough to wait for it to work between cuts and mindful not to cut my fingers off (which is not unlikely if distracted). A great addition to my Ryobi tools but remember this does not come with a battery or charger.

Everyone needs one of these

I’ve used this item for about 6 weeks and remain really impressed with it. It makes light work of stubborn branches that are just that bit too thick for a conventional secateurs and can effortlessly cut up to the thickness of a finger. But mention of fingers leads to a significant warning about this tool: it would be all to easy to remove one of your own fingers if not concentrating. Some reviewers recommend this item for elderly people with arthritis and this item would indeed be very useful in such circumstances. If, however, there is any suspicion of attention deficit – even mild age-related distraction – then I would steer well clear of this tool: it could be very dangerous without constant concentration and awareness.Nonetheless, five stars for an excellent product.

Hurt my hands with too much secateuring. This is ideal and cuts quite big branches which is a bonus.

This cuts through thick bramble cords as smoothly as a hot knife in butter, but also slices the fibrous dead, strands from agapanthus, phormiums and cordyline which are impossible to remove with secateurs, scissors or box cutters. You need little pressure, it is swift and deadly and has helped this old woman with a damaged thumb to conquer a desperate tangle of roses and bramble in a short time . Don’t but the ones with the initial B, I’ve had two sets both broke quickly

Lightweight, easy to use and well made. The ideal pruning tool.
