I know ryobi gets a bit of stick but it does what it does. My ryobi impact wrench does not compete with my dewalt one but it’s smaller so fits into spaces in my car that I couldn’t get the big one. The same goes for this chainsaw. It won’t compete with better ones and definitely wouldn’t come close to my stilh petrol one but it’s very convenient with no fiddling with carbs and mixes to get it started. It rips through firewood no problem and doesn’t take up much room in the car. Another bonus is that it’s very quiet compared to my petrol one so I can collect firewood from the local woods without disturbing anyone. It does absolutely tank the 5ah batteries that I have if I’m using it a lot but for basic pruning etc it’s perfect. If you just want to use it at home for chopping lots I’d recommend a 240v one however but for portability this is great.

Have to be aware this it’s only a 12 inch blade but cut through the pictured logs with ease. You’ll need at least 5 amph batteries. The assembly from box was simple no tools required. Comes with a tiny sample of chain oil. Was surprised that the chain stay tensioned very little stretch on first use. Beware and I’m not marking down but it used 5 batteries for what’s in the picture. So if you’re just starting out get a mains cable version. I have loads of batteries due to my hedge cutting needs.

Hi. Purchased this as just the tool as plenty of Ryobi batteries and tools in hand. I found the tool light and comfortable in use and it went through the logs with ease. The build quality is typical of the brand and faultless. Not used a chain saw b4 but this tool gives confidence right out of the box. Would recommend.

The work of removing storm damaged limbs from the garden trees became easy using the saw. I didn’t count the number of cuts per charge but I certainly got quite a few.Being battery operated it is light to use. So far I am very happy.

I bought this to use in my woodland for cutting small branches and logs. It is light enough for me to handle but still powerful enough to do the job. As we already have other Ryobi tools I didn’t need to buy batteries and chargers which made it a cheaper option.

Every bit as good as my old plug in chainsaw with added benefit of being truly portable. I have many ryobi tools and 3 batteries. Only 1 battery is genuine but the aftermarket ones work fine, and have done for past 2 or 3 years. 5ah battery got me through an entire root network of a 40ft tree (stump) which was impressive. Keep chain sharp and it will serve you well.

Was not very clear …………as NO BATTERY and a special charger also required

it cuts thru trees quite easily use 8 amp battery and you will be as impressed as i was

First of all, do not use ‘aftermarket’ batteries, they won’t last. I have a few 4ah original ones and they do the job. The pictures show a 7 meter tree that broke in the middle in a storm. It did take multiple batteries and charges, but in the end it got through a job that a tree surgeon quoted twice as much as the cost of the chainsaw for .. it literally is already paid off. Yes it leaks a bit of oil, but they all do. On the plus side, it easily cuts the 30cm diameter quoted, and because of it’s small size goes into narrow spaces and cut this 40cm trunk.Definitely worth the money and highly recommended.
