I had some 150×150 fence posts to cut. I showed them to my trusty Makita 18v Circ saw. It ran away and hid in a corner whimpering.Enter the 5008MGJ. It just gave a little smirk (think Owen Farrel v All Blacks Haka) then whizzed through them (2 passes) without breaking sweat. If you need to cut big stuff, this is what you need.

This is a very good saw and holds up the Makita name brilliantly! It’s easy to use very accurate and powerful. It cuts deep and doesn’t slow down as it glides through different thicknesses of work pieces! It’s also very easy to read and change the angle and the depth of cut as well! The quality of the box it comes in is also worth a mention, solid, sturdy and large! It is very easy to pack away with none of this faffing about for five minutes trying to get everything to fit just perfect before the lid will close! Nope none of that nonsense here, just throw it in, close it over and off ye go! Highly recommended!

Having had my old Makita battery saw eventually die on me I purchased a battery Ryobi one. Having struggled with the lack of power of the Ryobi, I opted to give this Makita one a go.It arrived well packaged and I was able to get it on Amazon’s 5 monthly payment option. It’s incredibly well made and extremely powerful. It’s easy to use, and packed with functions as listed in the description. It’s bigger than the previous one I had but it’s so powerful it’s worth it.Highly recommend this tool. I was genuinely surprised at the power and ease of use.

This is my first corded circular saw; I own a couple of 18v and a 12v mini saw. I bought this to notch 6×6 green oak, as my Hitachi 18v was struggling to cut in less than 3 passes. The saw is surprisingly powerful, cutting through damp oak with ease on a single full depth pass. Cuts are accurate and consistent, even with the stock blade, and the depth adjustment is quick and easy to use. A decent case in with the price is a bonus, as the unit is quite large and needs to be stored safely.Very satisfied with this item, and highly recommend this.

I ummed and aahed about getting this or the 190mm version. I’m really glad I bought this one now after cutting a load of 3 inch timber today. Easily cuts through 9×3 timbers.Had to cut two 4×4 down the length also and it munched through them. I did have to flip the 4×4 over, set the depth for the last inch but still easy compared to my old saw.The magnesium plate really glides well across the timber too. I like all the lock nuts levers for setting the depth and setting the angle. Really easy to use.Really great saw and does a nice job of cutting everything I have thrown at it so far with the supplied blade. The cable is just about long enough, not to long or too short. The box is ok, feels a bit flimsy but you can put the saw away easily and the cable goes in without hanging out of the box like by previous model lol.

As a new company I didn’t want to overspend on tools too much, I work with oak sleepers quite a lot and spent about 2 days researching different skill saws and chop saws. This saw flys through oak sleepers like a hot knife through butter.Cant recommended this product enough. It’s definitely for the bigger timber- I can’t imagine you’d need something as big and powerful if your cutting up 2×2 or 4×2 most of the time.

Great saw that cuts a beautiful clean cut. Only drawback is that the saw does not fit in the supplied box with the guide bar in place. I use the guide bar a lot – on most cust actually so having to remove it to put the saw away in the box it was supplied in is a minor niggle. I am mainly using this for cutting large pieces if seasoned lime wood and the saw goes through that easily at full depth leaving a very clean cut that needs little finishing. At this price I would have liked a laser guide.

I love Makita tools and this is no exception. The large capacity and powerful motor means it powers through larger pieces of wood with ease. Adjustment of depth and bevel angle is very easily accomplished and I adore the new module style box it lives in – I’ll be buying more of these to standardise my tool boxes. This is a great value for money tool and I’m happy to recommend it to you. Keep safe…

Like usual, Makita does the job as expected!
