These are a good size for smaller diy projects. Grip the handle and press repeatedly for a very tight grip. Very sturdy and completely versatile for any project. I used this on wood and metal and it held amazingly

Two minds about these clamps. Picking them up they were much more lightweight than expected and this was confirmed by the packaging saying ‘Lightweight’ in a prominent position. Pity this was carefully avoided in the advertising. That said, they are an exceptionally well made for the price and are very easy to use on small pieces. They clamp and hold well for their weight but do not expect to use them for with larger items as the pads are too small and close to the bars.I am positive about getting a lot of use out of them on light work and initial hold together before applying heavier clamps. I would not wish to purchase more unless needed for a specific purpose.
