Update:This saw is still running well after several weeks of almost daily use and now on its third chain. The only problem is the chain stop mechanism. When you take your finger off the trigger the chain stops instantly. This is really good security. However, this seems to have broken internally and the chain carries on spinning for several seconds as with most other chainsaws. This is a pity. Einhell’s technical web site seems to be closed as I would order the part if available and fit it myself.Compared with the Black and Decker that our gardener has, this is a proper tool. It has several refinements over all makes I have used, noticeably the fact the blade stops instantly your finger is off the trigger. Also very good is the master cut-out (just nudge the lever forward with the knuckles of your left hand), ease of assembly and disassembly (if the chain comes off), lack of kick-back, generous length of good quality cable, cable loop to take the stress off the cable entry point into the saw, and wheel adjustment to keep the tension exactly right. It has had a punishing week felling and cutting trees with sap rising (yes, I know it is late in the Spring to be doing this). The huge leylandii are the only trees around the property that slowed the chainsaw a whisker in operation, otherwise it has gone through everything like the proverbial knife through butter. It has matched the gardener’s large petrol-driven chainsaw when we have been alongside each other cutting up the same felled trunk, though this may be mostly because the Einhell is new and the blade sharp. It is a touch heavy when holding it above your head but this is also reassuring. What a surprise to order it on a Wednesday afternoon and it to arrive (from Germany, I believe) the following morning at 07.30. Highly recommended.

This chainsaw stands out for its great safety feature that immediately stops the saw when you let go of the power button. It’s powerful, yet light enough to handle easily, making it straightforward to use.

Great product

Great chain saw. I needed a saw which was lightweight, easy to use and good value for money and this saw has it all. Very pleased I bought this to cut logs for my log burner. It does the job so easily.

I needed a small tree cutting down in my garden. Got a quote from a few companies to do it but I could buy the chainsaw and cut it down myself for a lot cheaper. So that’s what I did. I must admit I was a bit nervous about using it but I cut the tree down in various parts. It cuts through the branches like butter if you’re cutting vertically. If you’re cutting horizontally, you do need a lot of strength in your arms to push it. It was definitely hard work. Also wear ear plugs as it’s very loud.

Brilliant little chainsaw, easy to set up out the box. Easy to adjust the chain tensioner, whith no tools. Absolute bargain for the price. Just remember to buy chain bar oil and fill before you use it. Very happy

I have owned a small 8in battery chainsaw in the past, but it didn’t last too long before burning out. I was apprehensive about buying another but read all the reviews especially the bad ones. My Einhell GH-EC 2040 arrived . I didn’t bother with the multi language instruction book but I watched a Youtube video instead. Within about ten minutes the chain was on, tightened and oil added. The chainsaw operated effortlessly and I had successfully cut my 20ft tree into burnable sized logs in no time at all. If I could give this product ten stars instead of five I most certainly would. I can’t fault it and am really pleased with my purchase. Thank you!

One of the buys that I have no regrets about. It fantastic value. It’s pretty powerful. I’ve cut down 3 conifers for which I was quoted £350. Planned next is to trim a number of trees that have grown too tall. The saw has paid for itself multiple times already.
David Macmillan –
Works perfectly, very well made, only comment is that it does not come with an Oregon chain.

Used for felling a large Holly tree and cutting the logs up prior to seasoning for firewood and some turning blanks.
