This is a very sturdy, well made plane.It has a long body which makes smoothing wood easier. It is heavy as well which means it won’t slip or move around.It looks a quality piece of equipment and I look forward to using more.

Very nicely built plane. Quite heavy, but a nice long body which makes a good smooth shave off your wood. Finished to a high standard and should last well. A good traditional looking hand plane.

Small bench plane.It arrives well packed, zero set up instructions.The wooden handle needs tightening up, so remove the tongue, compressor plate and blade to do that job.Take a photo if not sure – for reassembly first.Simple to set the blade up – only if you are used to setting a plane up.Luckily I can; but there are videos on U-Tube that will help enormously.This is a short base plane for quick small job work in tidying up the work.It is not for more intense thinning of wood down, you need a bigger longer plane for that.The body is cast metal, handles are wood -as expected and the blade is already sharpened, just receded into the body for safety.Seems to do the job well enough, a nice little plane.

Amazon Basics is a great brand and this plane is beautifully made. The wood work is smooth and highly polished and the metal parts are smooth and shiny. It’s a solid piece of kit and will grace any wood-worker’s bench. It did need a certain amount of setting up (tightening the handle and securing the blade) but once done it performed well. The blade was razor sharp and my plane skills weren’t as bad as I thought they were. It’s priced at just under £29 which is a reasonable price looking at the high end competition and it certainly performs well.

I didnt think there was a blade with it as it was well hidden in the plane, took ages to find! The blade itself is a durable steel alloy one that works smoothly. It has an adjustable gear so you can get precise results.My husband hasn’t used one of these for years and was very willing to test it for me , he thought it was a high end hand plane and was surprised it was only an Amazon basics. He tried it and was very happy with the result he got from using it…. a nice smooth finish , and accurate finish.This is a brilliant hand plane considering it’s only from the Amazon basics range!Highly recommended!
