This product is great and very powerful, saves so much time trimming the garden borders
carol donohoe –
This is a very good strimmer, fairly weight but sturdy enough to get the very over grown garden done
Tony moynihan –
Fast and reliable great strimmer

I have used the strimmer today for the first it.No issues and it works well, let’s see how long it last though.
Babbles –
I had an old Cheap Black And Decker power cabled strimmer that I used for attacking a substantial thicket at the bottom of the garden. It struggled for a year of repeated assaults before wheezing it’s last breath in a small acrid puff of smoke – probably because I was asking too much of it in terms of operating it for a 30 minute period on a hot day against really tough foliage. I looked at buying the same model again but it has long since gone out of production and the reviews for the old one are universally dire. I started to look for a replacement model.Reviews tend to indicate battery powered strimmers have less punch than those with a power cable. I need from time to time strim weeds and grass over waist height and a petrol option seemed like overkill. I therefore went for this power cable model. It is a known brand and the inevitably needed replacement strim lines are readily available.A few weeks later and I have beaten back the same jungle that exhausted the old strimmer. It does the job well. I don’t run it any longer than 15 minutes to make sure I don’t blow the motor as I did with the old model. The strimmer lines last much longer thank goodness. I was buying them far too regularly on the old model. You have to be careful when first setting it up not to have the strimmer cable touching the black trim debris guard or else it will make a hell of a noise when you use it.I don’t use it for edging which seems to be an issue for other reviewers. For bulk strimming rough grass that’s very high or just in need of a monthly haircut it works for me.There are probably better, more expensive strimmers out there but I am happy this suits my needs.I will always wonder if a battery option would have worked but they do tend to be twice as expensive as power cabled strimmers so it would have been a double gamble of price and capability.

This B&D strimmer was 1 of 2 purchased, it’s cousin was a larger and more powerful but not nearly so good.I have never rated B&D for anything and both were purchased in desperation, up to that point I knew little of strimmers. It was a very large gardening area and seriously overgrown, while its larger cousin was a real pain to use with continues breakages and a line head cap that proved so difficult to remove when changing the line, the B&D A530, what a goer, just motored on, it didn’t handle everything under it but strimmed a lot more then it should, I was so impressed, amazed in fact. The replacement line was an Amazon purchase and sold by EYERAYO, 2mm x 50m red line cord. I purchased 150m of it and went through 110mbut it was a huge area even for 2 strimmers.Due to my inexperience I used the wrong type of strimming head, reading the product details I thought when it stated ” 30cm cutting swath ” I thought this meant, length of line that will do the strimming, wrong!, this measurement simply means width of the line cover shield, the actual length of line involved was about 100mm only. The best analogy I can come up with for the area involved, it was like cleaning latrines with a tooth brush but it did it so well, the perseverance was worth it.It is not a professional strimmer, it’s for domestic use. I still don’t rate B&D but this strimmer went way beyond its call of duty. Its larger cousin had to be returned, it became impossible to use, Amazon refunded.

I was a little concerned reading some reviews that this strimmer was going to be SO much worse than the one it was replacing, but I have to say I have had no problems. The line is fine if used correctly and anyone complaining about it being short must be a giant (or hasn’t extended the handle!) I’m 6ft tall and experienced no problems. It’s a reliable strimmer from a reputable manufacturer that does exactly what I need it to do – What’s not to like? I’d recommend it…

A few points after reading earlier users feedback. You need to use the recommended cord, thinner cords will snap and the strimmer will keep feeding it out.If you collapse the telescopic shaft, fold the hand grip to it’s most upright you can wind the cable around the “wheel” and the hand grip for storage.Best B&D strimmer l have bought after perhaps 3 or 4 earlier models, which kept going until they eventually died of old age!
Miss J White –
Although it’s a little more expensive than my last trimmer, this trimmer certainly does not disappoint! I practically cleared the borders and part of the garden without stopping and did all of this in half the time, so don’t take my word and try it out for yourself!
