    As far as I can tell, it really is made of ebony.The blade is substantial & was even sharp out of the box.Bought for model ship building. Ideal.I can’t recommend enough.

    I do not write many reviews but felt this small plane deserved one. A brilliant very small planer that is well made and ideal for putting a slight bevel on wood. Cut straight out of the box with a small adjustment and cuts very well. Very pleased with the purchase and would highly recommend to anyone considering buying one

    I looked at several of similar small-thumb planes, but this caught my eye at this price, so glad I went for it, a lovely dense hardwood body, the iron (blade) once honed takes a nice edge, and cuts well. Overall if you are after a small plane you won’t be disappointed with this one!

    This looks like it is made out of ebony. It arrived super sharp. It is such a sturdy little thing. I am getting in to luthiery and it is fantastic for shaping the bracing inside a guitar. I have ordered another one so I can curve the base for scalloping.
