Spraying wood glazes

With Fence & Decking Sprayer

If you want to use compressed air to spray wood glazes, one of our “High Volume Low Pressure” (HVLP) units is ideal. The glaze is atomised by means of a large air volume and low air pressure through the nozzle. As the glaze is under low material pressure, the droplets are slightly larger – which in turn reduces the amount of spray mist. The large 1400ml pot means you can keep spraying for longer and the turbine has a shoulder strap for easy movability.

Are there any tips and tricks for achieving a perfect spray finish?

We recommend spraying in a vertical spray direction. Move the device at a constant distance of 10-30 cm and at a constant speed. Make sure that the spray overlaps the previous spray slightly in order to achieve a uniform paint coverage.

How do I prepare the substrate for a perfect coating?

In order to achieve the optimal coating of surfaces, they must be clean. All dirt, dust, oil, water, etc. should be removed.

What kind of liquids can be sprayed?

You can spray wood and metal paints, primers, oils, wood preservatives and treatments.

What does HVLP means?

HVLP stands for High Volume Low Pressure. The low material pressure with the high volume of air ensures slightly larger material droplets and therefore less spray mist.

  1. Mr Kieron A Penny

We have a large privacy fence which is a MAJOR pain to paint – especially by hand. We’d had this fence fitted a good couple of years ago, and have had it as a painting project for a good couple of summers as well! Living in Scotland, the Summers disappear as quickly as they come so finding the time to spend hours and hours and hours to pain this awkward fence was challenging. We are due to renovate our garden and decided that now was the time to revisit the painting monstrosity from scratch. I used a roller to paint the front slats and then started the painstaking process of painting the sides of the slats, and then what is effectively a second fence behind ours by hand with a brush (I hope this makes sense). Having spent hours and several weekends completing bits that hadn’t been done previously I had pretty much finished the job except for one side that needed slat sides and the 2nd (back fence) painting – this is where the frustration came in. I needed to use a 1/2 inch brush to get through the gaps in the slats and it was at this moment I decided enough was enough – I’m buying a sprayer to complete the task (should have done this months, if not years ago!!). The fence was built by 2 separate traders so there is a slight difference on one element of the fence in terms of the gaps in the fence slats – one could be painted by hand (which I had) the other absolutely not – not with a 1/2 brush anyway!!(I have a 3 young kids, I work away a lot and our lives are very busy so time is short and very precious – just incase you’re wondering why its taken years to paint a fence)Spent some time on Amazon and B&Q reading reviews and came across this product. I was apprehensive as we’d had ‘professionals’ come and quote for the job and advised against using a sprayer – weather conditions impacting, finish, consistency etc.I didn’t want to spend a massive amount given I’d done most of the job already, but didn’t have the patience to continue – so I picked this up whilst on offer (£58).I didn’t need to water down the pain as actually the 2.5 litre Cuprinol (Urban Slate) paint already seems to be very watery – I’m not sure if that’s by design or not (the 5 litre is far thicker). It arrived next day and now I was simply waiting for the right weather and moment to start the job!!The moment had come, the weather was good – sun was out, slight breeze but I was committed to getting this done – The renovation will start in a week or so and we go away for a week, so I had to just take the plunge!! I put everything together which is super easy, filled the canister with paint and pinged on the power and then WOW.This thing is exceptional for the cost. It sprays evenly, consistently, no clogging, very little spray excess (there was a light breeze), clean, effective coverage – it was just a joy to use! Don’t get me wrong, after a short period of time my arm was aching, that’s not a product issue, that’s holding a heavy paint in a canister moving up and down.I’d completed the work I wanted to do within 30-40 mins (it would have taken days by hand) and then I decided to continue to ‘touch up’ the rest of the fence that had been painted in stages over the years which had elements of a green mossy substance starting to appear – mostly the side slats and the inner fence. Well, needless to say I’d repainted the whole thing within another hour! I couldn’t believe how simple this process was and I’d kept saying to the wife exactly that – I cannot believe how quick and easy that was and why didn’t I do that sooner!!Anyway, I hope this review helps if you are looking for a Fence/Decking sprayer to do the job – this thing is more than adequate! I’m already excitedly deliberating my next project!! Best £50 I’ve spent in a LONG time!! Fantastic product, easy to use and most importantly – a major time saver!!!

This is amazing! I once lost 2 days of my life once painting a fence. Beyond me why I didn’t purchase one of these. Easy to use, does the job in half the time – quicker! Nice finish. Takes a bit of practise to get the feel of it – you need a bit of rhythm for evenness. Dries well. Would absolutely buy again. Have done quite a few projects with it already. Be aware it does give off a fine mist which spreads just a little – you find it on things further afield so make sure you cover up areas nearby and watch out for drips. I watered my paint down a little which I think made it easier to spray. Way better that those pump fence sprayers too. Worth spending the money on this. It was out of stock last time I check on amazon which is a good sign. Only down side is it needs refilling quite quickly – which is a small faff but by no means a deal breaker. Our fence was patchy white before – is now grey as per pic. If this review helped you either way to make a decision, please leave a thumbs up! Thanks 🙂

the WAGNER 2369472 Fence & Decking paint sprayer, is a game-changer for me. i’ve used it for painting fences, sheds, decking, and even garden furniture. This sprayer is a time-saver. It’s super easy to set up and use.i’m physically disabled with chronic pain and it saves me from the tedious task of painting with a brush or roller. I can cover large areas in no time, whilst sitting down which helps preserve energy which means more time enjoying my outdoor space and less time using up all my reserves on chores. The results are impressive. The sprayer provides a smooth and even finish, giving my fences, sheds, and other bits a nice neat finish.it’s lightweight and portable, with an easy to press nozzle so I can control the spray pattern and intensity to suit different surfaces and projects. This sprayer is not just limited to fences and decking; I’ve used it on my garden furniture too, and it worked well. It’s a real all-rounder when it comes to outdoor painting projects, i love it.Cleanup can be a bit of a hassle but it’s a small price to pay for the convenience and efficiency it offers. if you’re organised you’ll do it fast before the paint sets in the nozzle! I’m thrilled with the WAGNER 2369472 Fence & Decking paint sprayer. It’s made my outdoor painting tasks a breeze, and the results speak for themselves. I highly recommend giving this sprayer a shot!

Great all round product . only used once so far on 2 trellis panels and 2 large planters but probably saved me 3 hours on just them . it would have took an age to do the trellis but this flew through it in no time . there’s an online video for cleaning which i watched once and had no problem following . very easy to clean . as for the noise its no more than a household vac cleaner . instructions were easy to follow . after 1 use i have nothing bad to say about this product .

I wish that I’d bought one of these years ago. I have a lot of fencing and wooden outbuildings that need painting every year or so. I tried the cheaper hand held sprayers but they always clogged up and I also tried using my compressor with a spray gun but that wasn’t very successful either. This is the best sprayer that I have used to date. Don’t get too hung up on paint viscosity and worry about adding too much water. My wife bought some garden furniture paint to paint some 6′ hardwood benches. Each single slat of the bench has four sides so doing the job with a brush was a complete non-starter, life’s too short. The paint she bought was somewhere between double cream and yoghurt in consistency and I ended up using half and half, water to paint, in order to get it to flow through the supplied viscosity jug. You do need to stir very well, even a bent piece of heavy wire in the end of a drill will do the trick. It thinned the paint a lot but the sprayer spouts it out at quite a rate so getting a good coating is easy and I did a whole bench, top, back and underside in around 15 minutes.Cleaning up, as with any job, is always a bit of a pain. First you need to fill it up with some clean soapy water and spray until it comes out clean. But the real beauty of the Wagner is that all of the electrics are in the compressor so you can take the actual sprayer apart and dump all the bits it in a bucket of soapy water and use a paint brush to clean off the bits of paint.Oh, and it does make sense to fit the carrying strap and put the compressor on your shoulder. On its first outing I left it on the ground where it and the hose got badly hit by over-spray. The hose gets warm so this dried the paint on good and solid so it wouldn’t wash off. Oh well.Excellent piece of kit.

I hate painting fences. This thing makes it a pleasure, Breezed through my panels last weekend with ease. The sprayer is easy to set up and adjust, does an amazing job with no mess at all.best £70 Ive spent in a while!

  7. 1701

This thing is a machine in what it does, ie painting fences, I used Ronseal fence life plus straight out of the 5ltr bucket and it went on a dream , the unit is very quiet and not to heavy so you don’t have a headache and sore arms at the end , the worst part is filling up the tank this can be quite messy ,my fence is close board or feather board fence and there are 9 sections plus a back gate and 6ft high , it took 5ltrs to paint one coat , one side ,in about 45 mins to an hour with filling up the pot aswell , now if you have fence panels with concrete bottoms I guess you will be looking at less than 5 mins to spray a panel if you were to time it , the cleaning of the gun is quite easy you can wash the whole thing the nozzle unscrews so you can give that a good clean for next time , so glad I bought this sprayer , it’s a good job my Mrs came home because i would of sprayed everything in site ,i was eyeing up the car, the grass, basically anything I could spray, I am well cuffed with it , I will give it a day and go out and give it another coat , theres no excuse for putting off painting the fence every year now , Brilliant piece of kit ,

  8. Geoff Wilkins

Really amazed how good this product is, it’s taken me 90 minutes to spray 8 fence panels (a lot of that time was stirring and wateringdown the paint – top tip mix and stir in a big container rather than the reservoir provided), cleaning is a bit of a faff (took about 15 minutes) but will be quicker next timeCoverage is good and consistent, I sprayed ducksback watered down about 15%, the old fence needed a single coat, the new fence will need twoWould definitely recommend

  9. Amazon Customer

This piece of kit made light work of painting my large fence. It’s so fast that it’s a shame the bottle holds only a litre, meaning that frequent top-ups are neededFew things I found out which will I hope be helpful1. Difficult to avoid overspray of surrounding areas but no worse than using a brush2. Blockages are annoying but can be prevented by eliminating any solid stuff from the paint by straining it through a kitchen sieve. Messy but not nearly as messy as having to take the nozzle apart to clear it3. Diluting the paint with 10% as recommended means it works better and still coats the wood properly4. Worth investing on the cleaning kit as well

  10. Kevin

Never used one before so read a few reviews and watched some YT videos. Was happy to for a mid range rather than dirt cheap so ended up with this model. Just sprayed the back garden fence. Its not an easy job b/c we have roses and other plants bedded along it bar a few panels. Its easy to assemble I followed a YT poster for that and its doesn’t take long to do it.I was worrying over using the right viscosity but by the end I was just filling up the bottle and adding water to get a milk like consistency, no measuring, just by guess workFirst go I was too slow and repeating over the same area so it ran. But after a few sweeps I started to go at the speed and distance from nozzle to fence that go the best results. Its got three spray patterns on the nozzle and a turn screw for the amount of paint you want to spray. Again you soon get familiar.Cleaning is easy and done in 10 mins.Made the job really easy to do and cut the time by 75% at least
