    I bought this to replace the draper one which has so much paint on it that its too inaccurate. Having used this to perform a major rehone on ten or twenty chisels and plane blades I was surpised how much better this was. For daily use (a quick sharpening of my chisels) this is perfectly adequate for this type of guide. far better than the other ones in this price range that have tons of paint on them. It is sturdy and easy to use. My only crticism would be that some of my larger chisels do not fit in inside guides (i.e. are too thick) but that is more to do with the chisels themselves. I recommend this honing guide as pretty good for the price. Yes, you can spend five times as much but if you are happy with a budget one this one is the best I’ve bought over the years that was ‘budget’. No honing/angle guide printed on it, but that’s not really that important as its easy enough to calculate the projection length/angles.

    I bought this as a replacement for the honing guide that came with my Irwin Marples chisels. For some reason the Irwin honing guide didn’t even fit there own chisels!These have much larger jaws and not coated in paint and all my chisels and plane irons fit perfectly. Even thicker plane blades.Produced a square edge with ease. Really happy with my purchase.

    This guide handles chisels that my Eclipse will not. It is not ideal for narrow chisels as there is scope for movement but between the two I can pretty much cover all bases. Neither guide will firmly secure my narrowest chisel which I had to do free hand.
