  1. Nick Platts

Easy to assemble, chain easy to tension, good oil supply & very effective, good value & construction.

Living in a rural location, a good chainsaw is essential. My husband has always gone the petrol 2-stroke route, but he decided to take a chance on an electric job, especially one made by Oregon.I have to say he is impressed with the power (2400 W) 32 HP, and size 40cm/16inch of cut.Although mainly constructed of plastic, the build quality is sturdy. It will cut through thick logs like the proverbial hot knife through butter, provided the blade is correctly tensioned, which can be achieved easily without needing a screwdriver and spanners.Other plus points include a 3-year warranty, a long 6-metre cable, and an original chain that seems to cut forever without needing to be sharpened. Make no mistake, the Oregon CS1400 is a quality bit of kit and good value for money. Buy with confidence.

Used for cutting up tree branches. Powerful and fast in use. Makes this type of work much easier.

Over the years I’ve had every type of chainsaw going. All in their own way have their pros & cons. Petrol is a lot of flaff mixing up the petrol/oil, starting and cleaning to ensure it runs properly and I generally find after a while you have issues – but you do get the power! Cordless/battery are useful for small jobs and convenience , but a charge doesn’t last long and the batteries are expensive to renew, and they are underpowered. Now this little Oregon machine would seem to have the best of all worlds, as long as you are happy with the cord! It’s well made and robust and has some useful safety features – chain brake and also a trigger stop which stops the chain the moment you release the trigger. It certainly is powerful and it’s 16″ bar will deal with most jobs, unless you want to fell an oak tree !!! I bought mine out of Amazon warehouse for a smidge over £80 and consider it a bargain (includes 3year warranty). Reassuringly Oregon brand as opposed to a brand ‘X’ . Definitely recommend.

l have always used a petrol chain saw, but this does what it says, l only had 2ft logs and have been using all afternoon, this is a fantasic bit of kit, no damp start required, just plug in and go, amazing so 5 stars

  6. Charlie

I have used this saw for small jobs around the garden but also to remove a few quite large branches off an oak tree. It coped really well. However, whilst trimming the felled debris the chain came off and wouldnt go back on. I took it to a repair shop but they did not repair electric chainsaws ”they’re a sealed unit, we won’t touch them”. I took it home and luckily managed to sort it. The arm had bent slightly due to the stringy bits getting caught up and I managed to bend it back and it’s fine. It’s a lovely strong saw and you can buy a new chain at Screwfix, but I haven’t needed to yet. They’re £18, it’s £9 to have it sharpened.I would definitley recommnd this robust all-American piece of kit.

  7. L. Ironside

Excellent chainsaw , very pleased with the handling / performance …. All I expected it would be !

  8. E. M. Walker

Bought this to replace an old Bosch electric. Simple to assemble but as AG Watford pointed out in review on 8th April 2022 the assmbly instructions have not been updated, see page 15. iI now comes with the chain tensioning gear already fixed to the guide bar and the Phillips screw locked. Seems Oregon have still not got round to putting a correction note in the box so don’t waste your time looking for the o-ring

  9. ge

    Does the job well
