Silverline 427711 Hydraulic Bottle Jack 2 Tonne

Manufacturer’s Description

The Silverline Hydraulic Bottle Jack is an essential tool for any mechanic. With a lifting capacity of up to 2 tonnes, the jack is suitable for use with most small vehicles in a supportive capacity.

Ideal for use with axle stands when working on tyres, draining oil, replacing coolant and many other maintenance tasks, the Bottle Jack is also useful for many other projects including construction and will lift up beams and joists with ease.

The all-steel body provides reliability, resisting warping, splitting and shattering more effectively than lighter, cheaper metals. The jack is fitted with a safety overload valve, helping to prevent accidents by automatically refusing to lift if the jack has been overloaded.

A large sturdy base offers stability whilst lifting heavy vehicles. This jack is fully compliant with relevant standards, and although it is supplied with an instruction sheet, it is designed for those trained in its safe use.

– Lifting range of 158 – 308 mm – ideal for changing car tyres

– Easy height-adjustment screw for fuss-free lifting

– Long, quick-fit handle for no-nonsense, on-the-job operation

– Adjustable height ram saddle with cross-section for a more secure grip when lifting

10 reviews for Silverline Hydraulic Bottle Jack 6 Tonne (457050), BLUE

Handy size, small and compact and very useful. I used it today to lift a large heavy steel double gate off it’s hinges for maintenance, greasing etc. Worked perfectly and with minimal effort.Inexpensive must have item.

  2. Mr S.

Cracking bit of kit. Reasonable reach with winding screw-top. Very compact. You’re supposed to store it upright which can be tricky as it seeks to lay down in the boot of the car. I was going to get the larger head adapter, but the recessed cross-pattern on the top fits nicely onto my rear bar axel and is nice and neat, so it fits directly onto front subframe bolts so not required for my needs.

  3. susan margaret bamford

    Good quality and price

  4. gasgas

Pumps up my 3500kg motorhome (one wheel at a time!) just fine. Also useful for spreading things horizontally like a body jack.

  5. aishaaisha

Does exactly what it says. Only draw back the handles had to be taped to together as they detach very quickly. Over all brilliant

As another reviewer has pointed out, what you get is not what was in the photo but it only really amounts to the lack of the carry handle and there are no plastic ‘end tidies’ on the handle tubes. Neither is a problem but it would be nice to know you’re looking at an accurate example of what you’re buying – in some cases it might have been crucial to your decision!I bought this as the scissor jack on my little Punto gave up and I needed to do some work on it. My fault that, used it for everything and it’s not designed for that. Anyway, I’m not reviewing Punto jacks. I chose this one as it was short enough to slide under my car. This obviously limits the jacking range, but if you can’t get it under, you can’t use it full stop. I knew when I ordered it that it had a small flat top so I knew I would need to make something to spread the load or try to use it on some sturdier part of the car than the traditional jacking points. As it turned out I used the rear suspension arm and got it up on axle stands and was away. For the future I may make some sort of slotted adapter so I can use it in the same place on the body that the scissor jack used. The lack of range turns out not to be an issue as the top screws up to allow you to lose none of that range and it is then adequate to get the wheel off the ground. Another reason for choosing this over a trolley jack was that I would keep it in the car for emergency use (I killed the jack that came with the car remember). This is small and easily stowed, it also comes complete with a plastic case to keep it tidy in the boot. A trolley jack would have more range on the plus side but would be a chore to store in and lift out of the boot, would take up lots of room, might not get into some places and/or get in the way and was more expensive. This bottle jack seems well made and I can’t imagine it failing, it’s agricultural in the best sense of the word.

Have not tried it up to 10t yet but works a treat.Very good for cramped space, there is a screw top to it so you don’t have to shimmy it up typically. Awesome for aligning caravans as pushes them straight up as opposed to moving everywhere with car jack. However because it’s smaller it puts that entire pressure onto a small area underneath it, so make sure you are on solid footing and you can have up to 10t of weight on an area less than half ft2.Make sure you store upright! Also I would add for lowered cars or have less clearance this wouldn’t be suitable.Lastly, the handle isn’t that long so if you have something that is a stretch away, you will need a length of metal pipe.Apart from that the bottle jack is quality, the things above are not bad points just to be aware of of. I have this and I would buy again

  8. Neville meredith

    Compact hydraulic jack and strong

  9. Steve Boyd

I bought the jack as an upgrade for the 2t jack in my bearing press I use on a regular basis. After 6months of use its never let me down It plenty powerful and rated at 10t,I see no reason why it couldn’t lift a vehicle of that weight. Its well made and easy to use.

This jack is just amazing, we lifted a 32ft 4-5 tonne shipping container effortlessly to get it level. The handle is a little short and the 2 pieces are a loose fit which means they fall apart easy. For a quick handle hack, use a full size gardening fork and stick one of the prongs in the end of the tube, this gave us a 4 foot extension and made pumping the jack even easier
