  1. Michael Bretherton

After using my (tradesman) father-in-laws makita drill/screwdriver, I wondered how I ever lived without one. But while I do hobby woodwork, and DIY, I couldn’t justify paying the kind of money for the pro makita set up that I’d become accustomed to. I had to get a cheap one, but I didn’t want a shonky cheap unrecognisable brand from china that’s poor quality.Black and decker aren’t what they used to be, but it is still a quality item. Before buying I looked at and compared the specs of the black and decker to that of my FIL’s (200 quid) makita, and they weren’t far off, the makita has 42nm of torque and the Black and decker has 40nm. Both 18v. Pro Makita has fast charger and the battery is around 3Ah or 4Ah, while the black and decker is 1.5Ah, and so is the charger. So it takes longer to charge, like 4 hours, but remember this is a DIY/hobbyists tool, not a tradesman’s tool, and you won’t likely require fast charging times of a tradie on the job that cant continue work and is under pressure (you can buy a fast charger but its another 30 or 40 quid).I bought a second battery, a knock-off Chinese one, it works great, but the plastic clips and release button feel really cheap and brittle. It’ll do for when my B&D battery is charging though, and after feeling the quality of the unbranded battery, it reassured me that I’d got good quality for a cheap enough price with the black and decker. The black and decker’s performance during use, plus its comparison to it’s cheaper alternatives, really impressed me. It punches above its weight for the price. The battery life seems fine. It is very lightweight (without feeling too cheap) and it feels ergonomic. It is comparitively compact compared to expensive pro tools but without being weedy.I’d rather pay £40 for a quality item, than £20 for a poor quality, unreliable tool that let’s you down. That’s the difference between cheap, and good value.

  2. Bubbles

Pleased with this drill, quite light to handle, easy to use. Battery took a while to charge, but first time use so understandable. Bought Black and Decker drill bit set to accompany this drill, so I’m very pleased with this purchase.

  3. gillpen

Great for light DIY although probably best to buy the bit set to go with it although it came with two screwdriving bits. Lightweight and powerful and good value for money.

  4. Ediz Gul

When I first read the reviews I saw that there are multiple reviews about bits stucking in the drill and to be honest yes it does but so all the other brands have the same issue. But its not a big deal because you can unstuck it if you know what you are doing. Its a great little helper for little jobs and very practical to use. But its not for proper drilling, it can be used in masonary like brick work but don’t use it in proper concreate. If you are working on concreate I suggest you to buy a corded proper drill. If you don’t have the proper tools its very hard to a job. This little drill is most probably will be the most used tool in your house.

  5. Philip Scott

A compact hammer action drill/driver that is well balance and easy to use.The drill has a premium feel and is good value for money.

  6. J P M

I love this drill, it is very light, easy to use and works just as well as other heavier more expensive ones.

  7. Nathan Tranter-Solem

It’s exactly what you want. Dependable, powerful enough for all surfaces whilst being controllable, comfortable to hold. Absolutely brilliant

  8. keith arnold

Only used it a couple of times, light and does the jobs I have had to do.

  9. Reggy

Only used a few times seems to work and last a long time bought fir odd jobs.
