I bought this router (T14EK) for my Trend router bench………I’ve tried using one of my other routers but to be honest, even though they worked…..ok…….they were never quite doing it 100%……….this machine however is spot on ……( and so it should be, as it’s made for just this purpose)……..once I’d got it set up and worked out the nitty gritty ………… I gave it a few test runs……( rebates/groves up to 30mm… tongue and groove…… raised panels……. etc) ……..there’s no discernible motor slow down and the cuts were smooth and even……….did all that I tried effortlessly…..This is a machine for the ‘Pro/Experienced Operator’…………..its quite heavy 6.5kg……and needs treating with a good amount of respect when using free hand ………..@ £550 its a chunk of change to shell out…….. but I take the view that it’s an investment and it is likely to give me many years of service……………( I have 3 other Trend routers of different sizes that I’ve been using for well over 25 years on site and they all work like new….’nearly’………but they are 110v and the ‘youngsters’ scratch their heads and smile these days )……….hope you find this review to be helpful………and I’ve still got all my fingers……work safe and happy joinery………PS…….if you intended to use this machine on a table station….. I highly recommend the quick release kit…….

    Great router for professional jobs.

I’m using it for my Trend WRT router table where it’s being stuck underneath table so I don’t get to use any extra features but it still works there very well. Pity I cannot rotate or remove handles because once router to lifted up when changing router bits those handles are hitting router table plate. I like that there is an option to change speeds so when working with more delicate woods it can be lowered.

High quality, great addition to the router table.

For a router this is certainly a professional product. I have seen TRned machines in factories so I already knew this will be a heavy duty beast and it is.My images are close ups of the base and attachments for a reason, to show the quality of the metal used. There are no welds as the parts are die cast thus making the attachments much stronger. Think of engine blocks and what would happen if they were produced by welding many pieces together, they would simply break apart. The overall quality and build of this Trend product is excellent and it does perform well,a sit should when considering the amount of energy it uses, 2.3KwH.It’s ideal for small businesses that produce wooden products, it’s very good for DIYers and it’s a handy tool for a garden shed or garage for home use.Products made of wood can be made with accuracy and for the DIYer it is good for things like shaping dado rails, creating one’s own coving, making tongue and groove products such as timer floorboards and even for doing a nice neat job when boring into a door to put a lock inside whilst saving time when compared with using the old hammer and chisel. Basically, a router can cut all types of shapes into any type of wood, it can square, chamfer, round edges, notch, groove etc. etc.Once this beast is assembled there is only one thing to pay attention with and that is to make sure one is using the correct bits for the job. Although very heavy, this is very stable and it plunges with ease. For a lengthier job, such as grooving a lengthy piece of timber, there is a catch on the right handle so once it has been plunged to the required depth it can be locked and the timber can then be fed manually until the job is complete. The only issue I had with this product was assembling it as the diagrams in the instruction manual are not good and they don’t show ant instructive text. So, I had to look at the images on the packaging and work it out from there as it was far easier.Cost wise this may appear a little expensive but in reality it isn’t. One can get cheap routers for 1/5 price of this but they don’t have the power, the motors tend to burn out after a few uses, they are not strong or stable and you will never see them in a workshop or factory for good reason. One common name comes to mind for cheap alternatives, which used to be brand for reliablility but I don’t know anybody that has bought one of their products for at least two decades now as they went from cheap and reliable to cheaper and unreliable, with their products being notious for burning out and failing after short term use. With this Trend Router I am confident that this T14 is going to last many a year and lots of use, even repetitve work.I am going to recommend this Trend Router, even though it does appear to be high priced as it is built to an excellent quality and standard, it has the power to take on any woodworking task and quickly, it’s solid, it’s stable, it’s easy to use once assembled and overall it is good value for what it can deliver.

Well I just purchased my Trend T14EK router very expensive but very well made and extremely heavy great accessories that come with it I highly recommend this router.I would just like to say to Trend and other makers of woodworking products instead of supplying these people on sites like YouTube with free products why not look after your customers the people on YouTube etc are making lots of money with their videos I watched 5 x videos and every one got a free router plus the table, LOOK AFTER YOUR CUSTOMERS FIRST.

  7. Meow!

This is a nice router. My only criticisms are that it hasn’t changed much from the previous generation, although what changes have been made are positive.Although very big and heavy, it’s very well controlled and stable. The motor is exceptional. The fence is a bit primitive compared to a more modern alternatives and the depth adjustment is nothing special. My one big gripe with this router is why is it so expensive? The exact same router, the DeWalt (the only difference is that it’s yellow) is very significantly cheaper than this Trend. I was tempted to remove stars because of that price but I guess it’s up to you. Do you want black or yellow?
