This is a replacement for one I already had that was near the end of its life and been scrapped. The reason I got rid of my last one, as anyone who has had one of these knows, is that eventually you cut into base with the saw. It is almost impossible not to saw into the base when you have sawed through the wood.Trying to make this one last longer I came up with the idea of buying a cheap self healing cutting mat.I then cut it to fit the base, so the saw hits this instead of the yellow plastic base.Works a treat and keeps the mitre base safe. When the mat starts getting cut into, you just slide it along in the base a bit and start again.

Holds wood well and cuts fine, Have bought a self sealing mat to use to reduce saw cut damage to the product.

A cracking product, especially when you consider the price. Unbeatable value. I needed something to help me cut flimsy beading for panelling and this little genius kit made a job I was dreading child’s play. It takes a while to get the box “cut in” and there will be quite a bit of yellow plastic shavings in amongst the sawdust at first but once you get the system going you can’t go wrong. The saw is not the best quality but perfect for my intentions. Definitely good value at that price anyway. As for the pegs, brilliant. They’ll clamp all sizes somewhere in the box and really give stability. Great little things they are.I’m reading some critical reviews about the strength of the box etc.1. What are you trying to saw, telegraph Poles and2. It’s €20, it’s a steal for what’s on offer. In short, if what you’re cutting is relatively small, this is the job for you. You can’t go wrong.

Don’t cut mitre joints on a regular basis but I needed to do a few recently and this little set did the business! Now she wants me to cut coning for the sitting room and I’m looking forward to the challenge. Highly recommended.

Used to diy an mdf picture rail.Easy to use. The clamps can be adjusted to fit lots of sizes. The edge was neat both sides of the cutting. Would recommend for similar projects

I bought this to cut angled oak beading to repair my wooden windows. So far it has made over 100 45 degree cuts of hardwood using the provided saw. I see quite a few negative reviews but I am quite pleased with the product. People need to remember it’s a basic mitre block, not a mitre chop saw. You get what you pay for.I found that if you properly attach it to a workbench, use the provided clamping posts carefully and cut slowly it works well. If you angle the saw slightly up into the cut then you avoid cutting any of the plastic box on the non-cutting side. I like the included simple clamps – but you need to push down on them as you turn/tighten them to avoid them rising up. I slightly drilled out the mounting holes and used M6 screws with washers to attach it – no problems and snug in the holes.
Am I happy? –
Some of the reviews have really slated the mitre box but I’ve found it very useful. I screw it tightly to my workbench to prevent movement and it saws wood perfectly square each time. Have even used my engineers square to check that the cuts are square and am very impressed! In comparison to sawing freehand I can’t complain at all but I’m not an expert but perhaps carpenters or seasoned DIYers might not find this product useful but for a novice like me it helps to know every cut will be perfectly square. Have also cut at 45 degrees and feel like a professional when I see how perfect the cut is! As long as you secure the wood you are cutting tightly with the pegs to keep your wood firmly in place whilst sawing I can’t see how you can go wrong with the product so for all the DIY jobs I’ve got planned I’m so pleased that I bought this product and it’s well worth the money.
