This is a solid bit of kit from dewalt. Needed a bit of tweeking to calibrate out of the box (as I expected) which was not arduous but otherwise performs solidly.

So far in use (about two weeks) I find it a very good item. As a DIYer it is extremely useful. When you start a job its nice to get the foundations right. Some people have said that the dust removal keeps getting jammed but I have found no problem as long as you don’t forget to switch on the vacuum. All in all a very good product.

This machine leaves the wood with a brilliantly smooth surface. Iuse mine to prepare timber ready for glue up to make bowls and vases etc on my wood turning lathe and general woodwork. You will need a very good extraction unit to clear out the wood chips a normal house type of vac is no good at all .it needs to have a 100 mm suction hose like the ones on the larger extraction units .

I tried using this thicknesser on my manhood as I thought my wife would appreciate some additional girth… sadly it had the opposite effect!

A great tool for planing wood, nice and accurate, though I put a Wixey digital scale on it, accurate to 1/10th of an millimetre.One word or caution, the blades supplied were type 2 in mine, harder to find but easier to fit. They will not last with hardwood though, you will have to get a pair of harder steel knives for this if you are going to do any Hardwood work. (I’m not suggesting type 1’s would last any longer)
